Mount Cabalian / Lake Danao

Mount Cabalian is a fascinating and lesser-known active stratovolcano, surrounded with hot springs caused by the heat of the volcano.

The volcano sits at an elevation of approximately 945 meters above sea level. It is part of the Eastern Philippine Volcanic Arc.

A beautiful lake fills the summit crater, located at 733 meters elevation and about 500 meters wide.

Hot springs can be found on both the eastern and western sides of the volcano, with Mainit Hot Springs reaching temperatures of 63–64°C.

Lake Danao can be reached by walking, trekking, and climbing. It is located eight kilometers from the town center.

The concrete road ascending from Barangay Dayanog to Lake Danao is seven kilometers long. The remaining kilometer can be traversed by foot.

Trek Duration is around 2.5 hours to reach the summit, across terrain with steep ridges, lush plants, and stunning views.

Activities available at the site include hiking, camping, swimming, fishing, nature photography, and birdwatching.

With its diverse wildlife and beautiful scenery, Mount Cabalian is definitely worth visiting, providing a tranquil retreat for nature enthusiasts and adventurers.
