Plaridel Airport is the only public airport in the Mega Manila area dedicated solely to general aviation, widely used for pilot training, aviation schooling, and recreational flying.
Plaridel Airport is situated in Barangay Lumang Bayan, approximately 11 kilometers from the town proper. The airport is classified as a feeder or community airport by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines.
Opened in 1935, Plaridel Airport played a significant role during World War II as a training ground for fighter pilots. Today, it continues to be extensively used for training civilian, commercial, and military pilots. The airport is recognized as a historical landmark, one of the few airports in the Philippines with such designation.
Plaridel Airport has a single asphalt runway 17/35, with a length of 900 meters (2,953 feet).
The airport primarily handles general aviation and VFR (Visual Flight Rules) traffic, and does not function as a major commercial passenger hub. It houses several aviation schools and flight training facilities, including Masters Flying School, making it a central location for pilot education. |
