Adams is one of twenty-one (21) municipalities (along with two cities) comprising the province of Ilocos Norte in the Ilocos Region. The town is composed of only one barangay, and is a part of the 1st Congressional District of Ilocos Norte.
Adams is a simple and peaceful town, with a laid back atmosphere. Amidst this triviality, however, beckons a land full of hidden beauty and still unexplored treasures of nature, home to one of the few remaining truly untouched virgin rainforests of Ilocos.
Situated on mountainous terrain, Adams is accessible from the more famous coastal town of Pagudpud, about 45 minutes to the town center.
The Laoag Eco-Adventure Movement (LEAD) has identified Adams as one of the most promising eco-adventure destinations in the country, with four major mountains suited for mountaineering and exploring: Mt. Pao, Mt. Burburan, Mt. Kudinasan and Mt. Palemlem (or Pico de Loro), Adams’ highest peak.
The arduous and challenging treks will always be worthwhile, as spread along the way are rare and fascinating flora, tall and bountiful trees, the cold mountain air, not to mention the fresh spring waters falling off six identified waterfalls: Anuplig, Aki, Kanayupan, Pao, Mareprep and Sisilungan Falls, which are all present in the mountains of Adams. Also, near Anuplig Falls is a cave, still unexplored yet surely a potential prime outdoor destination for nature adventurers.
Adams is also host to the Tadek-Bagat Festival, an annual event meant to foster unity among the various tribes that comprise the townspeople. Tadek-Bagat is a gathering of Ilocos Norte cultural communities from the four towns that the tribal groups call home. These towns include Adams, Dumalneg, Carasi and Nueva Era.
Aside from watching the program and activities of the festival, one can go on and drink tapuey (local vino), taste homegrown cherries and brave the Baset Suspension Bridge, the longest and oldest in Ilocos Norte. Or just go on nature tripping to the mountains, rivers and the alluring falls of this captivating paradise called Adams.
