Baggao is one of twenty-eight (28) municipalities (along with one city) that comprise the province of Cagayan in the Cagayan Valley. The town is politically subdivided into forty-eight (48) barangays, and is a part of the 1st Congressional District of Cagayan.

Nestled between the majestic Sierra Madre mountains on its left and the vast Pacific Ocean on its right, Baggao boasts of several scenic spots that include Bluewater Falls, Duba Cave and Underground River, Intal Hot Spring, Seven Steps Falls, and Kalimudingan Falls, to name a few.
