Clarin is one of forty-seven (47) municipalities (along with one city) comprising the province of Bohol in the Central Visayas. The town is politically subdivided into twenty-four (24) barangays, and is a part of the 2nd Congressional District of Bohol.
The town is often visited as part of the ‘Visita Iglesia’, a heritage tour of Bohol’s churches.
Clarin is also home to the Regional Freshwater Fisheries Center, which breeds genetically enhanced tilapia fingerlings and broodstock for distribution to fish farms operating around the coastal villages. Tilapia ranks second to bangus (milkfish) as the most important fish food that is cultured for mass domestic consumption in the Philippines.
Clarin’s distance from Tagbilaran City, the provincial capital, is sixty-one (61) kilometers and travel time from the capital is about one hour and twenty (20) minutes.
