Ivana is one of six (6) municipalities that comprise the province of Batanes in the Cagayan Valley. The town is politically subdivided into four (4) barangays, and is a part of the lone Congressional District of Batanes.

San Jose de Ivana may well be the smallest of the towns in Batanes, but its hold on the most epic stories of Ivatan gallantry is incomparable.

Around fourteen (14) kilometers south of Basco, the main town, its two municipal ports serve as the gateway to Sabtang Island.
