Overview Tourism Quick Facts Geography Images

Loon is one of forty-seven (47) municipalities (along with one city) comprising the province of Bohol in the Central Visayas. The town is politically subdivided into sixty-seven (67) barangays, and is a part of the 1st Congressional District of Bohol.

Loon is a progressive town, an affluent community with a well-kept lush environment, lying on a fertile plateau surrounded by verdant mountains and sandy beaches, a place where one can experience ecology and history in one setting.

The town features imposing heritage structures like the centuries-old Nuestra Señora dela Luz church and convent, the historic stone stairway connecting the town’s upper and lower parts, and the scenic wharf in the old village of Napo.

Loon is also blessed with a wealth of natural attractions including the two scenic islands of Sandingan and Cabilao, along with the only natural lake in Bohol, a river that reveals a secret paradise, mangrove gardens and waterfalls that soothe weary souls, caverns that evoke mystery and excitement, densely wooded surroundings where countless birds fly in wild abandon, dive sites that compare with the best in the world, and a crystal-clear seaside spring that gushes from a crevice underneath boulders found on its northern edge, after which the town is said to have been named.

Loon’s distance from Tagbilaran City, the provincial capital, is twenty-seven (27) kilometers and travel time from the capital is about forty (40) minutes.
