San Isidro is one of twenty (20) municipalities (along with one city) that comprise the province of Surigao del Norte in the Caraga Region. The town is politically subdivided into twelve (12) barangays, and is a part of the 1st Congressional District of Surigao del Norte.

San Isidro is one of eight towns in the province situated on the island of Siargao.
