Sanchez-Mira is one of twenty-eight (28) municipalities (along with one city) that comprise the province of Cagayan in the Cagayan Valley. The town is politically subdivided into eighteen (18) barangays, and is a part of the 2nd Congressional District of Cagayan.
Sanchez-Mira is blessed with a wide expanse of fine sand beaches sprawling along its coastline. The town has its own share of lures, including the ruins of the first church built by the Spaniards in Cagayan, atop the Nagtutulagan or Nagsisiiman promontory in Pata. It was also in Pata where the seven first baptized natives were born.
The town is the province’s top coconut producer and is noted for its bamboo handicrafts and reed baskets.
