The town comprises the entirety of Bucas Grande Island, located adjacent to Siargao Island across the Dapa Channel on its north-northeastern edge.
Its most notable destination is Sohoton Cove, with its surreal labyrinth of turquoise lagoons, towering limestone cliffs, and pools filled with stingless jellyfish.
Other attractions include Kapihan Nature and Adventure Park, a park set on a forested ridge that provides elevated landscapes and sweeping views; Magkukuob Cave, a partially submerged cave with a diving exit that can only be accessed during low tide; and the Socorro swimming pool, a local treasure boasting natural spring-fed pools.
Notable wildlife species in the limestone forests include the tarsier, hornbill, and civet cat.
Although Bucas Grande can be reached from the mainland of Surigao, Socorro is primarily visited as a side excursion from the nearby Siargao Island.
