Lanao del Norte is one of five provinces that comprise Northern Mindanao ( Region X ).
The province is subdivided into twenty-two (22) municipalities and one city, with a total of 506 barangays represented as two congressional districts. The seat of the provincial government is at the capital town of Tubod.
The province abounds with scenic spots and potential tourist destinations which offer various tourism activities. Natural attractions consist of nine beautiful falls, nine beaches, four lakes and nine springs.
Lanao del Norte is also famous for its rich variety of seafood, particularly crabs and shrimps. Ten of its municipalities are bounded by three known fishing grounds, namely Iligan Bay, Panguil Bay and Illana Bay, all noted for their marine products.
At least ten festivals are celebrated annually in the province, which typify the life and culture of the people of Lanao del Norte, particularly their religious beliefs and aspirations in life. Among these cultural festivals are the Sagayan and Sagingan Festivals celebrated in Tubod, the Kasadya Festival held in Iligan, and the Alimango Festival celebrated in the town of Lala, among others.
