The traverse climbs through a biodiversity-rich area within the Caraballo Mountain Range, where the forest canopy is still relatively dense. The physical experience is demanding, requiring sustained effort to navigate paths that often follow steep ravines and river edges.
The trail passes through ecologically vulnerable areas, serving as habitat for numerous endemic Philippine amphibians and reptiles, including various species of skinks and geckos.
The most challenging footing is found in areas of bamboo thicket and tall grass, where the ground can be obscured by vegetation.
