Burnham Park

Burnham Park is a historic urban park in Baguio City, a prominent city landmark where visitors can relish scenic strolls and leisure activities amidst a sprawling green space right in the heart of the city.

Situated in Baguio City’s downtown area, the park was founded in 1925 during the American colonial period and named in honor of its designer, American architect Daniel Hudson Burnham.

Covering an area around 32 hectares (81 acres), the park is a beloved destination for both locals and tourists, featuring beautifully landscaped gardens, a lake, and family-friendly activities such as boating, biking, and picnicking.

Open throughout the year, Burnham Park provides a refreshing escape from the urban bustle with its expansive lawns and cool mountain air. Wide grassy areas invite families to unwind, enjoy a picnic in the open spaces, or simply stroll through the scenic paths.

Visitors can opt to rent a rowboat or swan boat for a peaceful ride across the park’s man-made lake. Bicycles, tandem bikes and roller skates are also available for rent, making it a fun experience for both children and adults.

The park has plenty of scenic jogging and walking trails ideal for morning exercises or leisurely walks, adorned with flower beds and ornamental gardens that highlight Baguio’s vibrant flora. There is also a children’s playground, a dedicated space where kids can play safely.

In addition, the park often hosts cultural events, including local festivals, concerts, and community gatherings.

Conveniently located in the heart of Baguio City, Burnham Park is easily reachable by jeepney or taxi from most downtown hotels, and is within walking distance of nearby attractions that include:

  • Session Road: the city’s main commercial thoroughfare, lined with cafés and shops.
  • Baguio Cathedral: A historic church atop a hill that overlooks the city.
  • vHarrison Road Night Market: A lively place renowned for thrift shopping and street food.

For those seeking more nature trips and panoramic views, the city’s Botanical Garden and Mines View Park are just a short drive away.

Burnham Park is not merely a tourist destination; it serves as a community hub where locals and visitors gather to enjoy Baguio’s charm. It offers a refreshing escape in the middle of the city, embodying the essence of the city’s laid-back yet vibrant atmosphere.
