El Kabayo Stables: Trail Rides and Wildlife Welfare

El Kabayo Stables in Subic offers scenic horseback rides along lush forest trails, riding lessons, and rustic venues for events—all while promoting and supporting animal welfare initiatives.

Located amidst verdant forests at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, El Kabayo Stables is a charming equestrian center that blends leisure, nature, and advocacy. Operated by the Wildlife In Need (WIN) Foundation, this facility supports rescued horses and wildlife through its riding programs. All proceeds earned from riding activities go to the care and welfare of the horses.

Activities at the site include:

Horseback Riding:

  • Trail Ride to El Kabayo Falls: A 1-hour guided ride through lush forest trails leading to a waterfall and back.
  • River and Stable Ride: A scenic 30-minute loop around the premises.

Riding Lessons:

  • Sign up for horseback riding lessons and enjoy a whole new realm of horsemanship.
  • 1-hour beginner sessions available.
  • A comprehensive 10-lesson horsemanship course with certification.

Education Programs: Horse and Aeta Adventure

  • This unique interactive program combines two experiences into one: getting acquainted with some of the resident horses at El Kabayo and engaging with the local indigenous Aetas.

Photo Shoots:

  • Picturesque pastures and stables provide an ideal setting for pre-nuptials, graduations, and family portraits with horses and rustic backdrops.

Event Hosting:

  • Host weddings, birthdays, and group gatherings in a forested venue complete with a white clubhouse and stables.

All proceeds from El Kabayo’s activities directly benefit WIN’s programs dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of horses, marine mammals, and forest wildlife.

The premises serve as home to the WIN Rescue Center, a sanctuary for sick, injured, and confiscated wildlife from the forest.

Despite the facilities being in a sad state of disrepair, likely due to insufficient funding since the place is run by a non-profit wildlife group, it remains a worthwhile destination. The place is vast, the horses are well-behaved and in excellent health, and the staff and guides are exceptionally friendly.

El Kabayo is an ideal destination for travelers seeking eco-friendly recreation, equestrian experiences, and a deep connection with nature. It provides a serene retreat that balances Subic’s more adrenaline-packed attractions like Ocean Adventure and Zoobic Safari, while offering an opportunity to contribute to the care and welfare of the horses, and to the upkeep of the place as well.
