Located some seven kilometers off the coast of Ipil, Buluan Island is a secluded destination fit for the more adventurous, featuring a pristine white sand beach and crystal-clear blue waters.
There are no resorts, restaurants or electricity on the island. Instead, guests are advised to bring their own food, drinks, and camping essentials.
This privately owned island does not charge entrance fees for guests, and visitors can use the available bamboo cottages and tables for a minimal charge.
From the cottages, one can relish the refreshing sea breeze while taking in the scenic views of the Zamboanga Sibugay highlands. Or simply head to the beach for a rejuvenating swim in the clear waters, which are also suitable for snorkeling.
Buluan Island is also perfect for weekend camping get-aways. For enhanced safety, campers have the option to pitch their tents within the military compound, which is conveniently accessible from the island’s Patriot Beach. The camp is equipped with solar-powered generators that provide electricity for light bulbs and small electronic devices.
Visits to the island must be arranged in advance through the Zamboanga Sibugay tourism office, located at the Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Capitol. Once all necessary approvals are obtained, the tourism office will confirm your scheduled visit.
