Columbio is one of eleven (11) municipalities (along with one city) that comprise the province of Sultan Kudarat in the Soccsksargen Region. The town is politically subdivided into (16) barangays, and is a part of the 1st Congressional District of Sultan Kudarat.
Known as Sultan Kudarat’s last frontier, Columbio offers a raw, cinematic landscape of rolling ridges and turquoise waters that rewards the intrepid traveler.
The town’s crown jewel is the La Palmera Mountain Ridge. Standing on its peaks, visitors are treated to a 360-degree view of velvet-green hills that ripple toward the horizon.
The sight is so strikingly similar to the highlands of Oceania that it has become a viral sensation for landscape photographers.
It is the perfect spot for a sunrise trek or an overnight camp under a clear, unpolluted sky.
Hidden within the municipality’s rugged terrain is the Pangadilan Falls and Rock Formation. Unlike typical vertical drops, Pangadilan is famous for its unique limestone structures and natural rock pools.
The water is a consistent, cool turquoise, cutting through tiered stone curtains that provide a natural massage for swimmers.
Traveling to Columbio in August allows visitors to witness the Kastifun Festival. Derived from a local term meaning “to gather” or “to meet”, the festival is a vibrant celebration of the town’s diverse cultural tapestry—bringing together the Blaan, Manobo, and Muslim communities.
It is a time of traditional music, colorful street dancing, and local crafts.
Columbio is a destination for those looking to disconnect from the grid and reconnect with the earth. Whether you’re standing atop a ridge or wading through a hidden pool, this frontier town proves that the best views are often found at the end of the road.
