Bacacay is one of fifteen (15) municipalities (along with three cities) that comprise the province of Albay in the Bicol Region. The town is politically subdivided into (56) barangays, and is a part of the 1st Congressional District of Albay.

The town is visited most especially during summer due to its many beautiful beaches, most notable of which are the white sand beaches in Cagraray Island.
