Hadji Panglima Tahil is one of nineteen (19) municipalities that comprise the province of Sulu in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao ( ARMM ). The town is politically subdivided into five (5) barangays, and is a part of the 1st Congressional District of Sulu.
The string of islands which characterize the municipality is rich in marine resources.
As with other island municipalities in the province of Sulu, fishing is the main course of income in Hadji Panglima Tahil. Seaweed farming is an added source of livelihood.
The biggest island, Bangas, serves as the commercial and government center.
Hadji Panglima Tahil, previously known as Marunggas, is famous for its beautiful dive sites. It is also groomed to be a tourist destination due to its beautiful beaches and fishing areas teeming with fish, squid, and other marine products.
