Lamitan is the lone city (along with eleven (11) municipalities) that comprise the province of Basilan in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region. The town is politically subdivided into forty-five (45) barangays, and is a part of the Lone Congressional District of Basilan.
Places of interest include Kalun’s Shrine, built as a tribute to a famous Yakan leader, and the Museum of Lamitan, which showcases the color and highlights of the Lami-lamihan festival. It also serves as the information center for the development of this town.
