Nueva Vizcaya is one of five provinces that comprise the Cagayan Valley ( Region II ).

The province is subdivided into fifteen (15) municipalities, with Bayombong serving as the capital and seat of the provincial government.

Nueva Vizcaya is a highland province known for its stunning natural beauty, featuring pristine forest environments, multi-tiered waterfalls, secluded caves, panoramic mountain views, and refreshingly cool climate.

  • RVS Skyview and Nature Park: A scenic resort and events destination known for its panoramic mountain views, lush gardens, and peaceful atmosphere. It is a mountain park that serves as a popular unwinding spot for families and groups, offering recreational activities.
  • Malussong Cafe and Creations: A local cafe, shop, and tour organizer that serves as a community hub. Integrates dining with cultural tours and local experiences, working closely with local vendors and indigenous people to showcase the region’s heritage.
Ambaguio
  • Mount Pulag (Akiki Trail): The Ambaguio–Akiki Traverse is an expert-level route on Mount Pulag that combines the mountain’s longest trail with its most challenging ascent/descent. This major climb is typically rated a Difficulty 8/9 due to its extreme distance and steep, continuous inclines, along mossy forests and bonsai fields.
  • Kalanguya Tribe Cultural Experiences: The Kalanguya tribe in Ambaguio offers rich cultural experiences rooted in ancestral traditions, often centered on close-knit community life and deep respect for the forest ecosystem. Visitors can experience traditional Cañao (thanksgiving rituals), native music with gongs, weaving, and the cultivation of mountain crops like sweet potato.
  • Sky Escape 360: A popular view deck, campsite, and events venue perched atop the Naduntog mountain range, offering panoramic 360-degree views of the mountain town of Ambaguio and the valleys of Nueva Vizcaya.
Bagabag
  • Naked View Hub: An agritourism park and popular scenic spot known for its panoramic mountain views, serene atmosphere, and cozy accommodation options with a pool. It offers a nature-trip experience for visitors looking to relax or camp.
  • Reginaldo’s Farm and Recreation Park: A multi-purpose leisure destination often described as a charming farmstay and resort, catering to family gatherings, student outings, and events like weddings and ceremonies.
Bambang
  • Banti Falls: A pristine, natural waterfall in Barangay Santo Domingo West that has gained popularity for its unique, multi-layered limestone rock formations that resemble a smaller version of the famous Kaparkan Falls in Abra. located in Santo Domingo West.
  • Ola Falls: A scenic waterfall in Barangay Salinas, part of the province’s naturally vibrant landscape and is often visited by those looking for a hidden or less-crowded nature spot.
  • Buag Bantay Viewpark: A scenic destination in Barangay Buag, widely recognized for offering a great panoramic view of Bambang and the surrounding valley.
  • Macababbad’s Agri Tourism Farm: A two-hectare property featuring a large garden of cacao trees, coffee plants, and an orchidarium with diverse species from around the world. It is highly popular for its homegrown coffee blend (hazelnut and robusta) and hot chocolate (sikwate) made from its own cacao.
Bayombong
  • St. Dominic Cathedral: A prominent 18th-century Baroque church that serves as the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bayombong. Despite being damaged by several major fires and the 1990 Luzon earthquake, the facade and parts of the bell tower remain as original Spanish-era portions.
  • Bansing Falls: Also known as Ammococan Falls, it is a rugged, scenic waterfall in Barangay Bansing, a popular summer escapade for locals and is often described as one of the best hidden gems in the province.
  • Bangan Hill National Park: A 13.9-hectare protected area in Barangay Vista Alegre, a unique destination that blends natural beauty, historical significance, and religious tradition. The park is the historic site of the first Catholic Mass in Nueva Vizcaya, celebrated in 1739 by Father Pedro Freire.
  • Tam-an Mount Resort: An agri-tourism destination and multi-purpose venue in Barangay Busilac. The resort features a thrilling water park with slides, an infinity pool with mountain views, and a deep Dolphin Pool.
  • People’s Museum and Library: A major cultural landmark located in a two-story historical building that once served as the old Provincial Capitol. The museum features seven thematic sections that showcase the unique heritage of the province.
Diadi
  • Lower Magat Eco Tourism Park: A 1,200-hectare nature preserve in Diadi, serving as a sanctuary for diverse flora and fauna. It is a popular destination for families, adventure seekers, and eco-tourists, featuring a lagoon for boating, an infinity pool, and cottages.
Dupax del Norte
  • Sea of Clouds: A popular natural attraction often described as a heaven on earth experience for its stunning mountain views. Best Time to visit is early morning, usually around 4:30 AM to 5:00 AM, to witness the formation. The sea of clouds can last until around 8:00 AM if there is no strong wind. The phenomenon often appears after a heavy downpour, particularly in the afternoon or night.
Dupax del Sur
  • St. Vincent Ferrer Parish Church: A National Cultural Treasure known for its historic, centuries-old design. The church is famous for its four-story bell tower and its intricate interior, which includes two cherub-adorned pillars and a grand original altarpiece. The church grounds also house the Museo Dupax, an ecclesiastical museum featuring 18th-century religious artifacts and historical records of the diocese.
Kasibu
  • Capisaan Caves: A premier spelunking destination and the fifth-longest cave system in the Philippines, spanning approximately 4.2 kilometers. It is often called a geologist’s paradise due to its rare calcite formations and diverse subterranean landscapes.
  • Edralin Falls: A multi-tiered natural waterfall located in Barangay Antutot, recognized as one of the cleanest bodies of water in the province. It features two main layers of cascading water that flow into a clear, cool basin ideal for swimming.
  • Bumolo Integrated Farm: A high-altitude agricultural site and agri-tourism destination widely recognized for its award-winning specialty coffee and commitment to organic farming.
  • Malabing Valley Citrus Farms: Home to over 500 hectares of citrus orchards. The region’s fertile soil and unique high-altitude climate—featuring warm days and cool nights—make it ideal for producing high-quality oranges, mandarins, and pomelos. Several orchards in Malabing Valley participate in the local tourism circuit, offering farm tours and picking experiences.
Kayapa
  • Mount Ugu: A prominent 2,220 MASL peak that straddles the border of Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya, and Itogon, Benguet. Often called “A Walk to Remember”, it is a favorite among seasoned hikers for its vast pine forests, scenic ridgelines, and views of the Cordillera mountain range.
  • King of the Mountain Trail Run: A world-class trail running circuit best known for hosting the first 100-mile trail race in the Philippines. A cornerstone of the series is the Mount Ugo Marathon, which takes runners to the 2,220 MASL summit of Mount Ugo.
Quezon
  • Mount Palali: A majestic peak standing at approximately 1,715 MASL, straddling the municipalities of Quezon and Bayombong. It is traditionally known as the historical hunting grounds of the Bugkalot, Gaddang, and Ifugao tribes.
Santa Fe
  • Malico Viewpoint: A high-altitude destination situated at approximately 1,675 MASL along the border of San Nicolas, Pangasinan and Santa Fe, Nueva Vizcaya. It is celebrated for its cool climate, sweeping 360-degree mountain views, and its significance as a World War II battlefield.
  • Imugan Falls: A popular 35-foot single-layer waterfall located in the Caraballo Mountains, known for its icy-cold spring water and lush forest setting. It is a favorite side trip for those visiting the nearby Malico Viewpoint.
  • Balete Pass (Dalton Pass): A historic shrine and scenic viewpoint, named after General James Dalton II, an American officer who was killed by a Japanese sniper at this location on May 16, 1945. It was the site of a brutal, months-long battle during World War II between the Allied forces and the Imperial Japanese Army for control of the strategic route into Northern Luzon.
  • Salacsac Falls/Pine Forest: Known for its green scenery and chilly climate.
Solano
  • PLT Wellness and Mountain Resort: A family-friendly destination offering a blend of recreation, nature-based wellness, and agri-tourism. Features multiple swimming pools with a giant slide and inflatable obstacle courses. On-site farm within a resort includes a Stingless Bee Farm and organic vegetable and livestock areas to promote food security and wellness.
  • St. Louis Beltran Church: A historical Roman Catholic church that features a classic stone and brick structure typical of Spanish colonial architecture in the Cagayan Valley, characterized by its sturdy walls and high arched windows.
  • Nueva VizKawa Wellness Farm: An organic premier wellness village and agri-tourism site known for its serene, down-to-earth environment and traditional healthcare experiences designed to melt away stress. The farm’s primary attraction features a warm soak in a giant cauldron (kawa) infused with herbs, often accompanied by a scalp massage.

In addition, Nueva Vizcaya is home to some of the country’s oldest surviving colonial churches, which enchances the province’s overall allure.

Moreover, the province is home to diverse indigenous communities, including the major tribes of the Kalanguya-Ikalahan, Gaddang, Isinai, Bugkalot (Ilongot), and Dumagat.
