Pangasinan is one of four provinces that comprise the Ilocos Region ( Region I ).

The province is subdivided into forty-four (44) municipalities and four cities, with a total of 1,364 barangays represented as six congressional districts. The seat of the provincial government is at the capital town of Lingayen.

Pangasinan is ‘salt country’ as its name denotes in the vernacular. The province is wrapped around the Lingayen Gulf, a sheltered inlet teeming with fish and other marine life, supporting the province’s thriving aquaculture industry.

Pangasinan is known for exquisitely hand-carved furniture, furniture naturally crafted from bamboo and rattan, and the famous bagoong (local fish caviar), which has become the trademark of the province.

Pangasinan also boasts of its many natural, scenic, historic as well as cultural spots, which have greatly contributed to the booming local tourism industry.

And because of its strategic geographical positioning, given the completion of the Sual International Seaport, Pangasinan envisions to become an ecologically balanced and environmentally stable world-class center for tourism, trade, agriculture, and industry in the Asia-Pacific region.
