The Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center provides an experience of nature within the heart of the city.
The 22.7-hectare park simulates a natural forest setting enhanced with recreational facilities to serve as a haven for nature lovers. It serves as a serene retreat amidst a bustling urban landscape, showcasing a diverse array of plant and animal species.
Within the Park, visitors will find numerous structures and facilities designed for the appreciation of nature.
A key attraction is the Wildlife Rescue Center, which functions as a repository and rehabilitation facility for donated, confiscated and/or abandoned wildlife. It also serves as a hub for public education, training, and research for students, biologists, and researchers.
Formerly a mini forest until it was quarried of adobe stone deposits in 1960, the four-hectare man-made lagoon, with depths ranging from 3 to 15 feet, serves as a habitat for nine species of fish, and adds to the beauty of the tranquil park.
Consisting of five stilt houses along the lagoon’s edge, the Fishing Village replicates traditional fishing communities found in Mindanao. Its setting provides an ideal venue for civic, religious and other social functions.
The craft village, composed of farm-type cottages, serves as the operational offices for the Parks and Wildlife Bureau’s projects.
