Mount Isarog National Park

Mount Isarog: Bicol’s Lush Rainforest

Mount Isarog National Park is a designated conservation area surrounding an active stratovolcano, celebrated for its abundant biodiversity and cultural significance.

Located just half an hour from Naga City, the park provides nature enthusiasts with a variety of activities, from family-friendly outings to exhilarating adventures. Here, visitors can enjoy biking, swimming in its many waterfalls and hot and cold springs, bird watching, trekking to the mountain’s summit, and simply admiring the natural scenery.

Five primary trails, varying from 1.8 to 7.7 miles, accommodate different skill levels. As the tallest forested peak in Southern Luzon, the ascent to the peak is moderately challenging and typically takes about 6-8 hours one way, depending on pace and trail conditions. Most hikers complete this journey in two days, often requiring a stop for the night along the route.

Designated as a National Park in 1937 due to its high diversity of endemic plant and animal species, it is also home to the Isarog Agta, an indigenous community that has lived in the mountain for thousands of years, making it a vital cultural heritage site. Their enduring presence has greatly enhanced the park’s cultural landscape.

Mount Isarog National Park presents a distinctive combination of exhilarating adventure, ecological diversity, and cultural richness, making it an essential destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts exploring the Bicol Region.
