Pagburnayan is the famous historic pottery village located at the corner of Gomez and Liberation Streets in Vigan City.
The word pagburnayan comes from the Ilocano root word burnay, which refers to the heavy, unglazed, earthy clay jars traditionally used for fermenting local delicacies.
Introduced to the region by Chinese immigrants long before the Spanish colonial era, this traditional pottery craft has survived for centuries using ancient techniques passed down through generations.
