Abel weaving (historically known as Abel Iloko or Inabel) is a centuries-old handloom weaving tradition deeply rooted in the culture of the Ilocos Region.
The word inabel literally translates to “woven” in the local Ilocano language.
Long before Spanish colonization, local communities were already growing native cotton, spinning threads, and dyeing them with organic indigo plants to create highly durable textiles that were traded across Southeast Asia.
