Vigan Day 2: Syquia Mansion

The Syquia Mansion is a majestic 19th-century Bahay na Bato (stone house) turned museum, most famous for serving as the ancestral residence of Elpidio Quirino, the 6th President of the Philippines, who entered the family by marrying Doña Alicia Syquia.

Located at the corner of Quirino Boulevard and Salcedo Street in Vigan City, the ancestral mansion spans nearly an entire city block. It was built in 1830 by the wealthy Chinese-Filipino trader Justo Angco.

It stands as an opulent testament to the lifestyle, architecture, and political influence of the country’s colonial-era elite.
