Acclaimed as the cleanest and greenest inland body of water in the Philippines, Kayangan Lake is a freshwater-saltwater lagoon set amidst imposing limestone cliffs.
Alternatively referred to as the Blue Lagoon, its clear brackish water is ideal for swimming and snorkeling.
Kayangan is frequently regarded as one of the most beautiful lakes in the country, celebrated for its clear, turquoise waters, striking underwater rock formations, and distinctive brackish nature.
It is one of thirteen lakes that are sacred to the local Tagbanwa, who maintains the place.
The lake is famous for its exceptional water clarity, allowing visibility of the underwater rock formations. It comprises a mix of 70% freshwater and 30% saltwater, supporting a wide range of plant and animal life adapted to the unique conditions of brackish water.
Activities for visitors include swimming and snorkeling, though this is only permissible in certain parts of the lake. Scuba diving is also restricted due to the lake’s strong underwater currents. In addition, guests can avail of bamboo rafts with a guide for a fee, to tour around the lake.
One of the three major inland lakes in Coron Island, it is a 20-minute boat ride from Coron proper and a 15-minute trek up then down a picturesque mountain trail to get to this beautiful scenery.
